    What breed/sex is this bantam

Well I picked up a few chicks from a guy I saw selling them at his house, this one is by far my favorite because of it's colors. I was just curious about what it may be, I don't see any comb or wattle, my best guess is it's about a month old now. Thanks for any help.

    New to chickens

Hawks are my only concern as of now. But I am prepared for predator loss. Once they get older I plan to allow them to free range our 10 acres, so I know I can protect them all the time

    New to chickens

Well the wife finally agreed to us getting some chicks, so we picked up 6 for now (3 black, 3 red sex links). I converted a shed we had but didnt use into a coop (its 10x12) and fenced in a run ( about 25x35) the run doesn't have a top, but the girls are locked upsecure the coop before dusk. I...

    chicks ouside in cold temp.

I have 6, 7 week old chicks. They have been without a heat lamp for 3 weeks and out in the coop for almost 2 weeks. Tonight the temp is supposed to get down to 31, my question is should I run a heat lamp out to them or should they be ok?

    Organic chick starter

I just bought a bag of organic 20% chick starter. The bag says to only use until they are 21 days old, mine are 5 weeks (I did not see the small print before I bought the bag) but I have seen on here that 20% is good to feed until they are laying age. What are your thoughts, will it be okay, or...

Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi all I'm new to chickens, I currently have 6 sex links all 4 weeks old in the brooder. But now that I have done a little research I think I would like to get some sort of EE, either hens or chicks. I love just south of jackson, does anyone know anywhere semi local to buy other than tsc?

Newbie looking to raise a few meat birds

I do not currently have room to seperate the brooder.I want a breed I can raise in the brooder then move outside with the rest until time to butcher. Maybe a dual purpose would be better, maybe barred rocks? What do you guys think

Newbie looking to raise a few meat birds

I am new to the chicken raising world. I currently have 6 sex links in the brooder all about 4 weeks old, which are my first chickens. Once those guys are old enough to be moved out to the coop, I would like to get some chickens to raise for meat, I have been reading a lot about cornish x, but I...

    Newbie with run question

The coop is extremely predator prood, I'm not worried about that. Also the chicken will be free ranging a lot. The fence just needs to slow something down long enough for me to get out there with the dog and a nice dose of lead injection

    Newbie with run question

Well you guys got to me, while the run will still only be 4 ft tall for now. I returned all the chicken wire and got welded wire. It actually ended up being $8 cheaper for the exact same dimensions

    Newbie with run question

We just got 3 red sex links, and 3 black sex links which are 3 weeks old. One they are old enough they will be moved out to a 10x12 coop, and a run that is 25x36. It will be fenced in 4 ft chicken wire. I'm hoping that they will have enough room and decide not to fly over. Do you guys think I...

    TSC pullets?

Thanks guys. I'm very excited about then getting older. When my wife and I bought out house there was a very nice 10x12 shed here, we have a large garage so everything fits in it, so we have decided to make the shed our coop. I also have a section cleared for the run, it measures 35 feet long by...
