Good old fashioned Plymouth Barred Rock. They are relatively docile, fairly intelligent (for a chicken) lay very well, and taste really good! They are, however terrible setters. The best setters are good old fashion been yard variety crosses.

Well folks it is late April in Harney County, Oregon. The coyotes have whelped their litters, and everyone is hungry. Make sure the fences are tight, hot fences working, change burned out light bulbs, and your favorite rifle is loaded. They know where your chickens are. Do you?

Wow. Let's see, it was before Mom passed away in 2008. I will have to guess, so sometime in 2007. I built my house in 2004, the coops I built in 2006. Spent about a yr in the Boise VA, so 2007. That's my final answer. :-)
