    Rooster or hen??? Pic below!

I have 4 chicks (6 weeks old) and this one is the most confident/friendly. Comes up to us while the other 3 are still afraid. None of the other chicks have combs. Rooster or hen?!

    Keep chicks in garage?

Would you leave them in the garage with a baby gate on the top? Haha. Also how close/far away should the heat lamp be? It’s 250 watt and about 10 inches from the floor but they like staying directly under it.

    Keep chicks in garage?

Yes it’s a standard garage. Everything closes properly and it’s not old or run down in any way. I’m worried about rats/mice I guess. We have those around. My cats take care of them outside, but no cats in the garage and it worries me. 4 chicks, tub is probably 3x6 feet width and length

    Keep chicks in garage?

Hi there. I want to know if I can keep my new chicks in a plastic tub with a baby gate as a cover in the garage. It’s gets really cold at night, but I have a heat lamp. Will it be warm enough? Also, will any predators (rats, mice, snakes) get in my garage and harm the chicks?

Need help with concrete chicken run!

All good points… if it means anything, we won’t be here for more than 3 more years, so at that point it’ll all be taken down when we move. Thank you!

Need help with concrete chicken run!

Thank you! I was thinking maybe not have it go up to the fence, but leave a couple inches of space? Maybe build a short, tiny frame to keep the wood chips in and fence up from there…

Need help with concrete chicken run!

Awesome thank you. The space under the old garden box is dirt. That is going to be where part of their run is for sure. I just wanted to expand it to the right and onto the concrete so they have even more space. One question, if the coop is on the concrete, raised, and idk say 5x5 whatever, do...

How would you turn over bottom or drain off? Are you saying that would be impossible on concrete? Sorry, new to all of this. Thanks

Need help with concrete chicken run!

Thanks for the response. I live in the pnw where it rains about 9 months out of the year. Sucks. But summers are very dry.

Need help with concrete chicken run!

I’m not sure if the water runs off. This is the slab. The garden box is getting trashed and their run & coop will go there.

Need help with concrete chicken run!

Is the concrete that you put wood shavings on uncovered? I wasn’t sure if I would have to have it covered. They’d have a 72 square foot dirt run, I just wanted to give them more space to wander. I could potentially triple that 72 sq feet

Need help with concrete chicken run!

Hi there. I need help deciding if I should extend my chicken run onto this giant concrete patio that’s just taking up space in my back yard. It’s uncovered. They will have a 72 sq uncovered run that will be dirt with some grass/weeds, but I feel like that’s not big enough for 4 chickens and...
