Ty! :-) Yep, learning that very quickly! These 4 are more like puppies!
I would LOVe to let both the turks and the chickens free range but I have very bold and plentiful coyotes around here and had to stop free ranging. I suspect these Turks would be sitting "ducks" since they think...
Yes, I read that BB's are for meat and we are good with that, but until they are big enough to butcher, I hope to keep them alive :-) They are already little tanks so I can see where they would get that big so quickly.
I am hoping this experience will prepare us for some heritage breeds...
When I started with chickens a couple years ago, it seemed pretty easy.. so when I was offered a few 8 week old BB turkeys I figured, "how hard can it be?"
Then henhouse has a separate section but I am finding quickly that 5 feet is NOTHING.
They are about a THOUSAND times bigger then I...
LOL Normally I am always hopeful for pullets, BUT I have one GIANT roo who is a sweet thing and for the bigger ladies a good mate. We got him because we figured if we had to cull excess Roo's we might as well breed them to be big for eating. However, I have enough space(a few medium sized...
Well I just am not good guessing! :-) Easter eggers and barnyard mixes.. I just had another from an older group of chicks "I am certain it is a Roo" lay an egg this morning. :-) I cannot complain about more layers! A black and white Easter egger roo will eventually find it's way to me...
I am 98 percent confident this little guy is a guy! Hoping for a few confirmations.. I have a EE hen that is black and white too and would love for some babies from these two!
Easter Egger? Some sort of barnyard mix? Pullet or Roo? Thanks! My other 3 easter eggers don't have smurf blue legs and she(so I hope!) is huge.. plus none of my are red partridge..
Agreed- 1 is all black, 1 is very barred rock looking(have 1 barred now)and one is more gray/white with less of the cuckoo pattern out of the blacks.. they definitely act much different then browns and do remind me of my barred when she was a chick. :-) They are very lively and not as big as...
Yeah, mine were all different sizes and feathered out all different colors too, which I love about them. One of my EE's is tiny and black and white and lays close to green eggs.. Another is a tank a big huge gray girl that lays very blue eggs like clockwork and one is tall and caramel and...
I was wondering but I got a bunch of easter eggers last year.. now that they are feathering they look different.. and they are huge compared to the batch of easter eggers I got last year.. but maybe? Wouldn't mind a few more pretty eggs in the basket.
Thought these two were bielefelder but the bielefelder people don't think so! So now I have no idea what they are.. any thoughts? The black's are some sort of cross I am sure..
