    Advice Needed

If he still has fleas you should work on treating them. Make sure to treat the whole flock as well and the coup/run. Your feed and supply store should have stuff to do it. I had a friend that I help treat with medicated Diatomaceous earth. Then I sprayed her coup and let it air out. All these...

First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

I had heard that newspaper is not a good surface for them to walk and run on. I would get some pine shavings.

    nesting box challenge,

No the brown egg is not hers. She has other hens following her lead. I get all my eggs in that corner, but only after my husband scared her. I'll try both those ideas, move the balls so there is only one in two of the boxes and put a bucket where she they are laying. I'll have to figure...

I appreciate your help solving this. Sorry for the delay. It was a weird week. I talked to the person at the feed store and she suggested Hay and fake eggs to make the nesting boxes more desirable. I cleaned the coop all out yesterday, put some shavings down, some hay and some golf balls...

My White leghorn was doing a great job laying in her box. One day my husband opened the door while she was in there and scared the tar out of her while she was laying an egg. She literally ran out with an egg hanging from her rear. She layed it under a stool. since then she is laying her eggs in...

    coughing up blood

This morning my daughter told me our chicken was making a high pitched squealing sound and her tail was down. She is about 19 weeks so I thought she might be laying an egg. When I went out she was walking around a little off, went under the coop and was opening her mouth like she wanted to talk...

    Summer time treats

I haven't tried this yet, it's my first time with chickens, but I read about putting corn or peas in muffin tins with water and freezing them. The chickens love to peck at the frozen blob.

    Nesting box vs Roosting bar

Is there a reason they should sleep on the roosting bar? I never thought to try to convince them. Mine sleep all together on the top of their boxes.

I am very sorry for your loss. I do want to thank you for taking the time to share. I just bought a coop with one of those feeders in it, but now I am going to take it out until my chicks are full grown.
