This is the way the leg naturally goes. This is him with the splint, you can see he settles like that and can't pull himself up to walk. Will he eventually? This is how the second splint was applied, tried to make it even like the posts. His foot also seems curled, is this correct?

Thanks for the posts, I hadn't found these pages! I read them and tried some more of the pointers. The chick doesn't seem to be able to get up with the leg braces on. It just looks like he's bound to me and is unable to pick himself up, he is able to drag himself around a bit to the food...
