    thin rooster

Hi everyone, so its been a few days since I wormed them, and I have been putting vitamins in their water. There has been no real change in the rooster until today, and now he's gotten worse. His one wing has drooped so much that he is now stepping on it. It gets in the way when he walks around...

    thin rooster

Thanks, I found a place that sells piperazine, and will have to do a trip out there tonight or tomorrow. He's still not doing well. Sitting on the perch with his wings drooping, looking pretty tired and unwell. I think the cold is affecting him more as well, since hes very thin, so I put a...

    thin rooster

Hi, I checked for lice and mites and didnt see anything out of the ordinary, though im no expert at finding them. Could it be something like worms? if so, how would I check for that? Should i treat them with some sort of medication in the chance he has something like mites/worms? If so, what...

    thin rooster

So we started out with 8 chickens the past summer, and now due to marek's we are left with 6. Today, I picked up one of the roosters, and I noticed his breast bone is very sharp, and that he is really thin. He seems to be alert and eating, so what could it be? Could he be the next victim of...

Freaking out. Is marek's contagious to parrots?

Thank you. So the vet called me back and says it appears its not contagious to parrots, and it may, but probably won't be contagious to my pheasants as well. So that's at least a bit of good news today. Thank you all again for your help.

Freaking out. Is marek's contagious to parrots?

Thanks for the links and the information. I took my rooster to the vet and ended up putting him down. I asked her if it was contagious to my parrotlets and she had no idea. She is doing some research and hopefully will give me a definite answer in the next couple of days. I will update you all...

Has anyone's chicken ever recovered from paralysis?

Final Update: Thanks to everyone who has been supportive and informative through this whole ordeal. However this story didn't have such a happy ending. Today I took him to the vet. He was still eating fine and looked alert, but had started having trouble extending his neck to reach his food...

Freaking out. Is marek's contagious to parrots?

So if anyone has been following my other thread, you'd know that I'm dealing with a suddenly paralyzed chicken. We had him downstairs in a washroom until yesterday, we moved him upstairs because of a holiday dinner with a bunch of people and we needed the downstairs washroom. So it completely...

Has anyone's chicken ever recovered from paralysis?

Update: It's been pretty much a week, and not much has changed. I had changed the crumbles a few days ago and he eats a lot by himself now. I have been giving him poultry vitamins as well as Bcomplex (with B12) and vitamin E in his water. He is pretty alert and clucks when I walk into the room...

Has anyone's chicken ever recovered from paralysis?

Thanks for your helpful replies. I found some powdered chicken vitamins, and have been syringe feeding him that mixed with his water. Today he seems very thin and weak. Would those vitamins be fine? Or would it be better to just give him vitamin E and B12 directly instead? Or in addition to...

Has anyone's chicken ever recovered from paralysis?

Since he has been paralyzed (monday) he has been inside, in a dog crate with a bunch of straw used to prop him upright. I have been giving him electrolytes and keeping food and water closeby. I only notice him eating if i put it up to his face, then he will start to show interest. His legs are...

Has anyone's chicken ever recovered from paralysis?

I see so many posts about chickens being unable to walk or stand, I am wondering if any do survive and go on to live normally after being pretty much paralyzed? If so, what was the cause of it, and what did you do to make them thrive on their own again? I am going through this (for a second...

    Cockatiels with Parrotlets?

I own two parrotlets (both male, one green, one pastel yellow), and from what I understand, they aren't the greatest with other species of birds (mine don't even get along with each other so far). I have heard of parrotlets attacking larger birds and they often get hurt because they don't know...

    Ringneck pheasant ..hen or roo

I asked this question in July, and you guys were correct about one of my pheasants (that it was male)..It's starting to change colour.. This pheasant I am still not sure, anybody know? The picture is a little blurry (it didn't like the camera). It was born in the beginning-mid July
