I know it doesn’t look much different but one of Danielle’s feet is bigger than the other.
I compared with old photos and both her feet were the same size.
Third picture is the underside of the bigger foot.
Could this be bumblefoot?
My hen Fiona had a stroke in May, and we had to rehab her, tube feed her, teach her to walk again and such.
She was doing much better but she had a second stroke two weeks ago and went completely blind. She was doing bad so we decided to put her down the next day, but the next day she seemed...
Ah I see the type. You woke up thinking “where can I find some joy in my life today?” and then you came to the only place where you hold any type of authority: the chicken forum. While perusing different posts, you saw the one about a sick hen with a newbie owner. You went through the replies...
All of this. I have been working every day (weekends included) to be able to afford the vet and I try to come back home as often as I can during the day to tube-feed Fiona.
I also have other animals to care for, including one whom I provide hospice care for and will likely be dead by the end...
My vet thinks Fiona may have had a stroke, so it could be something other than the feed. But again, I’m going to get a new bag of Layena. I’ve been working without any day off for the last two weeks so I can pay my vet bills. I’m such an a**hole I guess for waiting for my one day off (today) to...
It hasn’t been two weeks. We found the mold this week and immediately stopped. My healthy chicken isn’t going to die or get sick from eating the old food for a couple of days until I go to Tractor Supply again.
They DO have Layena, but the bag had MOLD in it. I will not give my girls the food that had MOLD so I switched to the old feed until I can get a new bag.
This is frustrating. Please read before commenting.
And no she had no head trauma that I know of. She lives in a very gentle environment with...
And I’m not sure you understand that MOLDY FOOD would be worse for them in the short term.
Fiona is being fed formula anyway so neither the old nor the new feed have been inside her since she got sick a month ago.
The old feed may have made her sick, but the feed that is out today has nothing...
We bought Layena, but just a couple of days ago a big moldy chunk came out of the bag. So we’ve put down the old food until I can get my hands on a new bag.
Fiona is tube-fed baby formula though, so for now she’s not getting the old one or the new one.
Update. Fiona has not shown any progress since I last posted. We feel more comfortable leaving her outside (we still check on her) but we always find her standing by a wall when we go check. Even if we put her in the middle of the backyard, she walks to the wall.
The only thing that changed is...
We just tube-fed our hen as we have been doing every single day for the last couple of weeks. I usually feel that her crop is full after every feeding but somehow this time it’s empty? She’s not struggling to breathe AT ALL and my husband always is careful when inserting the tube because I’m...
Fiona saw the vet today and he was pleased with her progress. He said it’s possible that her condition is due to vitamin deficiency. He also suspects a stroke, but it sounded like more of a minor possibility according to him.
We changed the feed we buy and I started her on B complex pills...
