Long story short, maybe!! I spent 3 months or so with anemia and running down the bleed. It was cancer in my colon. I have since had a very ugly colon cancer surgery, have railroad tracks all up and down my abdomen stem to stern and a new colostomy. OMG it hurt like hell. I mean really...
@AngBantamLuv 16 weeks you can change to layer feed - doesn't matter the breed.
@SedonaMidwife Most Orpingtons come golden but they do come in lavender too - I lusted for one for a short time!! I also like to raise barred rocks and austrolorpes for the cooler areas.
Lost one of my 7 year old girls to the heat yesterday. I knew the day before she wasn't fairing too well so got her cooled down but just didn't last. She was one of my true Americaunas with beard, muff, blue eggs, colored legs and she was black. She laid and egg maybe once or twice a month...
@TinmanOut I see their legs will be dark - not the usual yellow. This points again the the Ameraucana. Enjoy and here's to blue eggs! Fingers Crossed!!
@TinmanOut I am guessing they are indeed Ameraucana. They look poofy in the cheek and poofy under their necks. I can't see their legs to see if they are darker. Their tail pops also look more poofy. The true test will be egg time. Blue eggs!! But to have both cheeks and neck poofs is...
My eggs fly out the door almost as fast as they can poop them out!! Generally two dozen at a time. When they slow down I have sad customers. Oh well so it goes!!
The top two look to be hens although I'm not well versed in polish breed. Hard to see saddle feathers on the other two but using the same scenario pointy feathers often mean roos. Don't hold me to this!! Hahaha!!
@City farm Florida. My kids hate that I live without family near so they have consulted and decided FL is best for me. My son and his family live there. My daughters live in cold snowy areas except for middle daughter who lives in Las Vegas. I really don't want to live in Las Vegas. Yippee...
@igorsMistress I'm doing okay. It is getting easier to be a singleton until something like a cold slams at you!! I laughed at myself - had I been taking care of someone else they would have had all sorts of meds to take care of their head cold but taking care of myself I just forgot until...
@AndresLewis Another breed that will do well in your area is an Australorpe - I probably spelled it wrong. Anyhow they come in different colors as well as being good layers. Also many in hot areas have had good luck with Orpingtons. Good luck!
Depending on how the NN are bred you will sometimes see a comb - such as a barred rock/NN cross. What is more prominent I'm told (I really don't KNOW) are the waddles start growing differently - longer, broader, more into the neck, etc. This is how the breeder (help me @BlueBaby) in Green...
@BlueBaby did you weigh it? Its always an eye opener. I once had one that was 4.3 ounces which is bigger than a jumbo egg - it was gigantic. I've had 3.7 and 3.4 too. All of them big. We posted on FB with "small, medium, large, x-large and ouch" - got lots of laughs.
