yea, at first i thought we would need line shavings but we were told to use hay, and i have felt like it doesn’t retain a lot of moisture. i definitely will be trying pine, doggie pads and new water method. thank you for the tips
we are using chopped hay, that’s we were told to use from the store we bought them at. i’m thinking of switching to pine shavings. we were told to use a chicken water dispenser, we’ve tried putting it in baking trays to collect the water and and extra tray under that for extra protection but...
hi, i have a same concern. new to owning ducks. i have two pekin and their bellies are constantly wet, like brownish dark yellow color. i change their bedding at least 3 times a day because they do get very messy. but i’m concerned that their bellies are always looking like this.
i don’t know if you could me identify what my ducks have. they’re about 3 weeks old i think and they’re constantly wet from their bellies. i bathe them and make sure to clean their bedding often but even when the bedding is dry they still look like this and it’s like moist.
I heave three ducks, two pekin and one cayuga i believe and the pekín ducks have recently been super wet from their belly area, I have been changing their bedding frequently but it seems like they still stay wet. Has this happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to help their bellies...
we bought the ducks from a tractor supply store and the lady in charge told us to buy the chopped hay. and that’s what we’ve been using for the 11 days we’ve had them.
this is what they look like from the bottom belly area. i really don’t know what do, i feel really bad for them because they are wet but i dont know what i can do to fix it.
i was reading on different websites that it would help to remove the dirt with a bit of soap which is why i did it. they seemed to be dry and not crusty from the bottom anymore but now one of them is still the same with a wet tummy. what type of bedding do you recommend to keep a bit more dry?
their bedding isn’t wet, i change it often because i thought that’s what was causing him to be wet on his tummy and chest area but even after dry bedding he continues to be wet. the other two stay fairly dry but one of them stays wet and i see he picks at his chest area frequently
