My hen has been molting and stopped laying about two months ago when it started getting cold, still molting 2 months later. Her butt is filthy, she keeps flexing her vent constantly, but not like she's trying to lay.
She has red bumps on the top of her vent but no discharge and doesn't smell...
Will it hurt to get poultry dush in the inside of the vent, first 1/2'' or so?
I feel like I have to dust her vent directly to deal with bugs around it, but worried it will get inside of her.

Some of us have a fabrick steamer laying around. Move out the chickens and steam the bedding, walls, roof, roosting bar.
Will kill a lot of parasites, and bacteria for a cleaner environment.
I don't think these are the typical mites we are used to seeing, they are almost impossible to see with the naked eye; but if you look closely at my chickens skin it just seemed to move; which is red and irritated, she's also anemic. Looking closely in an area 2 inches by 2 inches I could see...
I went out there tonight with the flash light and saw a lot of mites on her, extremely small you pretty much need a magnifying glass to see them.
I read online that this can cause a rise in white blood cell counts and I know it causes Anemia.
I thought I got rid of them with a dawn bath and...
The vet doesn't tell me the type of infection.
I took her to an avian vet, she has 25 years experience treating birds and countless chickens.
She originally prescribed oral antibiotics, but my chicken was refusing them and then we changed to the injections.
I just went out there and gave...
My chicken has high white blood cell count and anemia, she was prescribed Zosyn Injections twice a day.
She normally comes to me, but now she runs when I pick her up, she thinks she's getting a shot.
We moved her to a new coop this morning that is much bigger, with a nice roost.
This...
I dewormed her by squirting liquid on bread, now she won't eat bread so that trick no longer works with the antibiotics; she won't take it without spitting it out.
I tried putting it on cat food, wasted some and she wouldn't eat it.
any ideas?
today i saw little tiny white bugs crawling on her bare skin, you really need a magnifying glass to see them on her. Mites I assume.
I washed her in Dawn soap and when she was wet it was terrible to see how much hidden damage they did, she looked like a naked little chicken running around...
