I have a hen who has hatched 2 chicks and is still sitting on a pile of eggs, one of which I know has broken...how long will she continue sitting? When do we intervene?
We've had one chicken sitting on a few eggs for two weeks. This morning another hen was sitting on the nest. Is it normal for them to give each other a break like that?
Not a chance LoL Love the lil fellow...he's very sweet...we ended up with another rooster, too...a big Black Langershan...hoping that doesn't cause a problem in the future
So funny...he crowed last night! It was faint at first and then he started doing it over and over with more confidence (of course it was at sundown instead of sunrise, but I'm sure he'll sort it out LoL) Lots of sound out of such a lil fella :) We are happy parents
"Flint" one month later...still not sure if a roo or pullet, but tail feathers seem to be curving...we're hopeful. The lemon color has sure spread...he/she is a beautiful addition to our lil flock regardless :)
That's part of the question...we're not sure of the age...it is very small but has lost all the fuzziness, so we're figuring that. We are comparing him to our new hens that are now about 7 weeks (they are all much larger due to their breeds)
Thanks everyone...we'll love he or she no matter what...just want a rooster, and now we just won't get one til we know for sure if it's a cockerel or a pullet :)
