Attaching run to coop ideas please!

I'm far from an expert in coops or building, but I would probably make some sort of bridge/tunnel out of hardware cloth and scrap lumber that connects the coop to the run. Then the height wouldn't be a problem.

So... I almost got attacked by a rat today.

Might be time to carry a good hefty piece of wood or a pipe around the yard with you.

Can anyone tell me the paw print or the kind of poop this is

Hard to tell what track that is. It would help to know where you're located as that might indicate the kinds of common predators you'd have around. The scat looks like bear, but it's also hard to tell without some size reference.

Best Defenses Against Hawks and Coyotes?

Actually in Massachusetts there is a coyote hunting season. It just isn't year round like in other states, and may be restricted in some parts of the state.

Best Defenses Against Hawks and Coyotes?

Just make sure you're not blasting protected raptors. In Michigan we have a 24/7 365 coyote season.

    A Few Coop Build Questions

Definitely won't have any insulation exposed, I wouldn't trust any critters to leave it alone if it was exposed. There are some people I'd be concerned about even :gig

    A Few Coop Build Questions

This isn't my first building project, but it is my first chicken coop. I've built some other animal enclosures in the past. I have 4 Wyandotte pullets and have settled on a raised structure that will be 4'x4'x4' with an attached run roughly 8'x8'. I live in Upper Michigan and we get LOTS of...

    Hello BYC

Yes, they've been growing like weeds! I have most of my coop materials, just need a few odds and ends I forgot when I hit the lumberyard this past weekend. By the end of this week I'll have my plans sorted out and this weekend the serious construction begins. I started with a 2'x2' box as a...

    Hello BYC

Hi all, figured I should make an account since I've been utilizing this site for a lot of info as I get started with a small backyard chicken flock. We have 4 Golden Laced Wyandotte hens that are 4 weeks old now and currently in a nice brooder in the garage. I'm in the process of planning a...
