I cant think of any reason why you couldnt sink them. I'd just make sure the bottom of the hole is packed/tamped down well, some gravel for leveling it and to help drainage
Yeah, never even crossed my mind, might have to completely rethink this. thanks
Currently I have water inside and outside with food hanging inside. My thought for the new coop would have been food inside with water outside.
Food in vertical PVC style feeders or horizontal in PVC or some...
SO couple years back I rebuilt my old rotting shed into a coop. It was rebuilt with the idea that if the chickens didn't hang around I'd get the shed back. After some trouble with mother nature and a 2nd round of chickens, they are still in the family. But I want my shed back.
SO I want to...
are there were better pics of the top/sides/framing of the run/coop. I'd say grab a few 2x4s and frame up some slanted rafters and cover them with some clear poly/steel corrugated roofing, allowing for some overhang on the front/back.
quick google image search.
I love the building and as long as its weather resistant I really wouldn't change a thing. Open the windows or remove them and cover them with hardware cloth, add your roost and a poop board. Floors and walls I wouldn't change . Floors are going to get really dirty anyways

I'd say put it on 2 4x4 skids and get 2-3 round fence posts and slid it. OR on the flat moving dollys from HF they are cheap and don't hurt to have around If it's that heavy maybe use a come along and chains to pull it.

Well over the last 2 weeks got some work done on my coop conversion. Have been balancing work/both daughters softball and gymnastics, family and coop building, but its coming along. As posted above got the old siding and roofing off and loaded up in the trailer to get it to the dump. Wrapped...
Had the day off, it didnt rain and got some work done.
Hit the discount building supply shop, got some 1/2" T111 unprimed :( , 1/2" OSB , couple 2x6s , and roofing felt.
unloaded it all to the shop and started to deconstruct the shed.
Whoever built it, didnt frame in the window right imo...
ding , ding , ding
used a 2x4x10 , nailed/screwed to the 4x4 joists and slowly started to life it up, slid new 4x4s under it, worked like a charm. Wish I had gone 6x6 but had the 4x's in the shop.. Maybe when it dries out this summer I get some concrete pavers to lift it a little more.
Thanks . I found lots and lots on the Blackjack coating, what I've read everyone likes it, I think I'll end up going in that direction. Although it may take a while for it to warm up enough to allow it to cure with out running heat lamps/spots out there.
Raise the Roosts . may move my boxes...
So in my intro post the wife and girls want to try their hand at raising chickens (and I'm OK with this), we toyed with buying one of those little pre-built coops, building one, OR converting our old, sad shed into one. The shed is old, 8x10, build by the previous owners, down near the creek...
