Do these guys have white or yellow legs? Pictures seem to look like the birds could have either.
I would most definitely be interested in any with longer yellow legs if anyone is looking to sell their non-dumpy birds.
These birds are hard to find!!!!!
I've had my crew for a year now and they have proved to be very hardy, super foragers and self sufficient, great layers (about 4-5 eggs per week per hen) and very broody if I don't pick up the eggs daily (however I do prefer to raise the chicks indoors as they seem to be flighty if raised by a...
Have to add that I as well marvel at the breed. I only have 5 hens but get 4-5 eggs each day. Both hens as well as rooster are social and very easy to handle. We butchered 4 cockerels and the meat was plentiful and tasty. Just a polite and beautiful bird to have on the farm. I swapped out...

Have to post as I just acquired some Svart Hona chicks from a local breeder and am very excited. They are originally GFF line. Already such a lively little crew! Shy but getting used to me more everyday, scratching and trying to dust bathe. Out of six chicks two have a white feather or two and...
I have a sand floor in my coop. Technically it is a "dirt" floor, but I am in NC and our dirt here is sand. I scoop it everyday with a cat litter scoop. Super easy to clean, I love it. We had some colder nights and I put straw in there thinking it would help with warmth. They did like it...
I got an Easter Egger mixed in with my chick order and am having a hard time telling if it is a roo or pullet. Maybe it is too early to tell as she/he is only 6 weeks old? I can wait it out until I see an egg or hear a crow but was curious if there were any opinions?
Have to jump on and say "hello" and a huge "thank you" as this site has been amazingly informative and educational. I am new to poultry in general and started with Dominique as I knew I wanted a dual purpose heritage breed. I nabbed nine, day old chicks from a local breeder and ended up with 4...
