Is my hen truly a roo?

Had terrible luck with a batch of silkies from a hatchery getting mareks and dying or most of them being Roos. I thought this one was a hen. She’s never crowed before and her siblings (two other silkies) started crowing months ago. Can anyone tell by appearance if this is a hen? She’s not as...

    Silkie rooster with Mareks(I think)

Update: the silkie hen has passed away, but the silkie roo is still going strong. Hobbles around but still gets around the yard when we let him out with the other chickens and we make sure his brothers aren’t trying to mate with him. I’m amazed he’s outlived a few other chickens that have...

    Silkie rooster with Mareks(I think)

He’s about 8 months old and they get 16% later feed mostly and then once a week get some high protein crumble and then treats like scrap veggies or blueberries. I have a silkie hen who has started the limp walk like he used to do as well before he got this bad. I will try the separation and...

    Silkie rooster with Mareks(I think)

I have a splash silkie roo that has one leg super stiff and limp toes. He flaps and flips around and is active during the day even eats and drinks a bunch, but sometimes gets stuck on his back with both legs in the air and can’t seem to get back on his feet without human help. Also his brothers...

How much do I need to feed my chickens

Jesus Christ $107/bag, my tractor supply sells 16% layer pellets for $10.50/bag. Granted it’s not organic mumbo jumbo.

    Scabs on feet?

Are these normal on a hens feet? She is a larger more heavy set breed. A smaller gold breed has smaller ones too. It only seems to happen to hens.

Game fowl roo and silkie hens

y’all think I can put my roundhead game fowl roo in with my silkie hens and he’ll mate them and not just murder them? He is an aggressive SOB. But he’s been gentle with my other large breeds while mating.

    What’s with this roosters comb.

My best guess is it’s part silkie as I had a silkie roo in with my hens, but there were a few other breeds of Roos as well.

Can you have a silkie rooster with average sized hens?

Late to this post, but I have a silkie roo that kinda gets bullied by two very large Orpingtons but when it’s time to do his business he’s very dominant and the hens squat down for him. When it comes to food though he gets pecked on the head to F off. 🤣

    Respiratory Distress

Every chicken that I had that sounded like that has died in the next 24 hours or less

What predators can roosters actually kill/fend off?

I swear roosters are in the same wavelength as dogs. How chihuahuas always seem so fierce and aggressive bc everything is so much bigger than them. The smaller the roo the more it’ll put up a fight, I have a serama roo that made a large jersey roo back down.

    Help! Crow Collar on rooster!!!

Yea he careful if it’s a larger rooster. I watched my Large roosters comb turn purple before I realized he was being strangled by it and took it off and saved him. It’s unfortunate it doesn’t work with him bc he’s the loudest rooster I’ve ever heard.
