How to treat mites in coturnix quail

He's the worst. Can't be molting, because he's been like this for months now. My understanding, that molting only lasts about two weeks. I haven't observed any aggressive behavior. He's my only roo and he has 10 hens. 11 total in a 12sqft space. Plenty of hiding space and dust bath. His skin...

How to treat mites in coturnix quail

I thought it was molting, but after months, now I'm convinced my quail has mites. I will examine them closer tomorrow. Their backs are bare as well as their tail end and chest. If so, what's the best way to treat them? Looks like my entire flock of 11 is affected (in my lower cage, the upper...

QUAIL LIMP LEG - NO SIGN OF INJURY

Shock kills faster, than the injury. It may have died due to shock. It also could have suffered a head injury? No telling. It just happens.

QUAIL LIMP LEG - NO SIGN OF INJURY

Yes, actually. 100%. Took a few weeks. I wrapped it for a while to add a little support. Then he slowly started putting weight on it and eventually couldn't even tell he had a leg injury any more.

    Putting quail outside?

I just put mines out at 8 days old. I have 35 and they were getting too tight in my brooder. Outside they have a fully enclosed room with heat lamp for the night and an open run. Day temps here are 85-91°F and night temps are 68-73°F. They have a fan in the run. I had to turn that on today...

    quail 2 months old

Something I didn't know, is that if a female was just recently mounted, it might produce a foam, too. So you may have to test them again to be sure. Also, send us pictures and we can try to help figure it out.

I have seen females do similar. Maybe it's a form of domination or establishing packing order. If you have one that's too aggressive, you may have to remove them. Make sure you don't have too many males per female.

Mines are in full shade, but summer temps still crawl up in the 90's. Quail loves cold, but heat is hard on them. I put a fan in there for them over their sand box with a timer for daytime hours only. If the breeze is too much, they can move over. If they're hot, they lay under it. They love it.

Is it too soon to move chicks outside?

I ended up tying some to the outer sides, too. They feel more secure that way.

Is it too soon to move chicks outside?

I cut a few branches and I have some artificial plants in there, too. I have lots of trees around. I found that they absolutely love feeling hidden, but it still allows air-flow and they can peak through. :)

Is it too soon to move chicks outside?

Well they did awesome outside. I did get up several times last night, keep checking on them. They didn't like the dark in the open area, so I put a red non-heat lamp there. The enclosed area had an infrared heat lamp already. Once I did that, they were all over the place. Toward dawn, when temps...
