A single pair of mutes will chase off the cgynets early the following year early in the breeding season. I discourage raising brother sister as a breeding pair. I have 4 breeding prs so I put unrelated prs together.
There is a guy in Indiana that has a bonded pair, a mute and a black Australian and have reproduced. Some mottled while others a blue color . The mottled ones were all large like a mute but the blue was just like a black.
I set turtle trap with a gallon milk jug and use chalk line from hardware store with large hook. About golf ball size piece of meat that i get my local butcher that they throw away, & attach to a gallon milk jug. I put out a half of dozen milk jugs out for 3-4 weeks.
Beautiful swans! I have a friend that lives 45 min away that has a black & white pair that raise cygnets each year. Sometimes they are mottled, black and white, and then some come out blue or silver in color.
Best of luck this spring.
I always pinion in the 1st 3 days, and always only one wing. Older birds need to be trimmed on a regular basis or pinioned by the vet. Where are you located?
