Diet is layer pellets. 18%. Doesn't seem to have any other symptoms.

A young hen is layer extremely large eggs which seem to have very watery whites. Any idea why this may be? She is also dropping them all over and not necessarily laying in the nest box.

Of course they need their mama! She will protect and reach them. Ours stay in their own crate within the coop run which we close at night so the chicks don’t get lost or stuck somewhere. In the morning everyone is let out to free range. Mamas decide when the chicks are ready to go out and...

My 18 free range on half an acre. I have no problem with the neighbor‘s cats, but we have lost some to mink and hawks. We make sure they are in well before dusk, and have strung up lines to deter flying predators. The chickens love having the run of the place, but all the negative comments...

Give her a couple of eggs.

“Bait” eggs can work. I use wooden ones. They like to lay where there are other eggs.

I have one, but would prefer to be without. Much quieter and easier on the hens.
