My Modern Game Bantam hen has been acting strange for two days. She has been sitting in a nest box, all puffed up and not clucking. This is a VERY talkative hen, so it is strange for her to be quiet. Thinking she was broody, I blocked off the nest box. However, she just sat down outside the nest...
I'm not sure chickens can swim, but I would only try it if you're there to supervise. They might end up drowning themselves. And it would be best to do it on a warm day where they will have time to dry off before it gets dark.
I figured that. I used to have a roost that was about 2.5 feet off the ground, and the silkies didn't get up there, but now the roost is about 2 inches off the ground and the silkies have no problem. Only problem they have is repeatedly trying to walk through the roost.
My Silkies act like they can't see. They sometimes run as fast as possible, straight for the wall.I have been thinking about clipping their feathers but since I keep them to show, I think that might be a DQ.
Would that be a DQ for a show? My silkies can't see very well and they are continually bumping into stuff. I have been thinking about doing that but I raise my chickens for showing...
That's really interesting. None of mine have any trouble. Your roost may be too ''high'' for them, but any silkies who can't get up to the roost will probably sleep in a pile which is fine.
