    Colorado

Thank you! :) That's helpful! I'm mostly not looking forward to starting over but I gues it's kind of a silver lining since my current hens are starting to not lay as much. As far as I can tell only 1 maybe 2 of them are still laying eggs, so I guess it's a good time to be starting over.

    Colorado

Hey everyone! I'm currently living in Oklahoma but I'll be moving to Colorado (North Fort Collins area) in early 2018 to be closer to family. I've already looked up the ordinances and talked to the HOA in the neighborhood I'll be living in so I think I'm good there. I currently have 3 three year...

How to transport fully grown hens?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in. We might be moving 10 hours away to another state. We have 3 hens. What's the best way to safely transport (driving) them? Or would we be better off selling them and starting over once we get to our new location?

    Crop or something else?

I fed them later than usual today since it's Saturday. Thankfully when I checked on Paisley this morning her crop was normal sized. I guess she's just been a pig the last few days! She really had me worried. Thank you for your help!

    Crop or something else?

Hmm. I'll let you know. She's not really acting sick so I guess that's good.

    Crop or something else?

I have no idea about her breath but she had her face in my face tonight while we were taking pix. Didn't smell anything then.

    Crop or something else?

It was the same size this morning before I gave them their food as it is now. Really hoping it's better tomorrow morning.

    Crop or something else?

It's sort of squishy I guess. Firm Is the best word I suppose. But it's not hard. I'm just concerned because it's been the same size for a couple days now.

    Crop or something else?

Hi! My RIR hen has a tennis ball sized lump on her chest. I thought it was her crop so I shrugged it off but it's been there since Wednesday (that was the first day I noticed anyway). It hasn't gone down since then that I've noticed. They did get a bunch of left over salad from thanksgiving on...

    Compost tumbler recommendations

Hmmm maybe we should get a smaller one then. Thank you so much for answering all of my questions! :)

    Compost tumbler recommendations

That's one of the ones I'm looking at buying. Does it drain well? Are the tumblers separate from each other? I saw that as a possible downside because it appears as if they are connected together but I'm still learning about composting. :) We do have sand but I use a kitty litter scoop to sift...

    Compost tumbler recommendations

What size compost bin would you recommend? Also, any brand recommedations? Where I live it needs to be in a bin or I guess what's called a compost tumbler. Thanks!

questions about composting and coop cleaning

I'm thinking about getting a compost bin for the chicken poop. Can someone please give me a brief dummies guide to composting? So if I'm understanding it correctly my current plan is this: every week I rake the floor of the run (which is dirt). I use sand inside my coop so I sift poop with a...
