I thought so as well, but wanted more opinions. I have bought 10 chickens and 5 have been cockerels. We will have to send him back to the farm since we are not permitted to have roosters. Just wish my luck was better.:)

I figured as much, just hoped I was wrong. This one was very motherly and allowed the smaller chicks to hide under its wings when it was younger. I guess the pecking order kept him from crowing until the others were removed from the flock. We have purchased 7 chickens and so far 4 are...

Penny - she (?) is a Buff Orpington. We had a Rhode Island Red start crowing so we had to take him back to the farm since we are not permitted to have roosters in town. Now a few days later, Penny starts crowing. What is your opinion? Is this a rooster or a hen that thinks she is a rooster...
