Thanx everyone, I appreciate the responses
The drop off occurred in march/april. Until then we had been getting 4 or 5 a day. Since then it has been typically 2 per day, sometimes 3, maybe 4 once or twice a month. I figure the heat has a lot to do with no eggs yesterday but the drop off...
Hi all,
just trying to figure this out -
Since this spring we have had a huge drop. 5 Khaki Campell girls; we've been averaging 4 to 5 eggs per day. Since early this spring it has dropped to 2 or so per day. No major changes in feed or anything else. We give layer feed with some corn &...
I use a treadle feeder. Very little waste & keeps all other critters out of their food.
I had to modify slightly - added a larger platform for ducks to step on.

One year later, I've learned a few things about our ducks.
1. They can change clean water to a mud hole in 2.87 nano seconds
2. They would charge a grizzly bear for a handful of peas
3. They will happily lay their eggs in their bed if they have enough straw. If they don't like the amount...
We live in a small town - our local HEB (grocery) is where we buy all of our foodstuff. The wife was talking to clerk one day a while back & mentioned they were out of the big bags of peas & our ducks would riot if they had to do without.
So, short version - they sell us cases of the big bags.
our girls will be a year old later this month. I give them peas at 8pm. If I'm late, they pace back and forth at the back door. The two times we weren't home by dark they were in bed & waiting.
I move their bed every week, they do circle the bed the first nite or two after moving.
I do...
We have khaki Campbell's & I put straw in their house for winter, before they had started laying. Once they started laying they built a nest every day door the eggs. One week ( I move the bed every week) I only put a small amount of straw, the next day we had eggs scattered everywhere in the...
I've got a duck tractor & used chicken wire for the floor & 1/4 inch hardware cloth for the raised center (food & water area). The chicken wire rusted out in ~9 months, replaced it with PVC coated chicken wire. Ducks could care less.

Home Depot, IIRC - the medium size. Typical kid pool. Wish I could find one without the decals - most of the grunge seems to come from them.
I've already started making noises to the wife about a pond - she's already past the rolling of the eyes and into the 'pretending to listen' stage...
Khaki Cambells.
When I drain the pool the girls all go running & jump in - they know fresh water is next. They were pretty bummed when I stuck a cinder block inside & no water (we're expecting storms today)
When the pool is full they just hop on the hardware cloth & walk out. The steps w/...
