    Tattooing birds for ID

I am just curious (don't care about thieves and cop stuff) has anyone on here had any success tattooing baby chicks for breeding and identifying and marking chicks with tattoos? Will they take in the thin skin and are they permanent? Instead of toe punches, etc??

    Rooster behavior

Culling is the simple process of eliminating inferior animals from your flock and definitely not breeding them. All domesticated animals have been selectively bred from the best individuals that display the traits u are looking for. You breed as many as u can to increase your chances of finding...

    Rooster behavior

The best gamefowl breeders don't even keep "manfighting" roosters. They breed for gentle calm disposition. They do not tolerate roosters that are not sound in mind. It is a genetic trait that u can breed away from.

    Rooster behavior

Never try to catch the roosters hens. He will try to protect them. That being said if he is attacking for no good reason pull his head off and enjoy every minute of it as you are doing the world a favor. Never settle for human aggression in a rooster. Topic of the Week - Nest boxes

If your nest boxes are up to high and/or your pen is crowded the hens may try to roost in the boxes (and therefore shit overnight) keep nest low and don't overcrowd. If u still find a hen shitting on the eggs, figure out the culprit and cull her.

    Catching my chicken

I noticed this is an older post so I'm assuming you (or something) already caught your chickens. But for readers that may still have this problem.... if the chicken is real flighty or skittish you may have to spend some time in the evening and watch from a distance to see where it goes to roost...

Bread is the easiest tool you can use to tame them. Put them in a small pen so u can pet and handle them without them being able to escape your "affection" offer them bread and let them take it from your hand. If they don't take it do not give it to them. They will learn.
