    Black Comb

Thank you for replying. No injury that I saw. No other roosters have been on the breeding coop. It could be the hens aren't letting him mate. Maybe they are pecking at him? All but one hen has obvious feathers missing on their back from breeding. He is happy and shows no lethargy or loss of...

    Black Comb

Our rooster had mild frostbite back in January. However we have had weather in the 40's at night and 70's during day the past three weeks. His comb has patches of black now. Any thoughts based off the pictures. His hen's eggs are not fertile either. He's been in a hoop house with 5 hens for two...

    Weak Duckling umbilical normal?

Thank you! This is our first hatch for '24. I'm rusty and shouldn't have moved him with the other three fluffy dry ones. I didn't want him to be alone. Do you think it needs electrolytes or anything special since it's a little weak? Probably exhausted.

    Weak Duckling umbilical normal?

Hello this lil quack was the last to hatch. He never dries. Found him lethargic and cold in brooder box. Warmed him up, blow dried. Noticed umbilical is bulging. Is it going to be okay. Should I put triple antibiotic on it?

    Polish chick male or female?

Did she crow or lay an egg? I was told to look at their crests at hatch. Now I'm second guessing that method. We just started breeding them. So excited.

How much should I charge for eggs

That's a good score! I have searched and can't find a solid answer here. We usually gather a week's worth then I wash the eggs the night before I sell them. We are running out of counter space so the unwashed eggs were all put in the fridge. Is it okay to wash them then re-refridgerate?

Fresh egg with no yolk completely rotten liquid

I'm thinking the same thing. I just have no idea who laid the egg. I'm afraid to sell any eggs until I figure out who may be sick. I candle before selling and assume I'd have noticed no floating yolk. Thank you for your response

How much should I charge for eggs

We are storing in a 30 flat. They can grab a dozen and bring their own container, or, we can offer them one with a charge of $1.00 more for our container. Where do you buy your cartons from. We have been pricing them.

Fresh egg with no yolk completely rotten liquid

Hello. We gather eggs daily. Today I was making breakfast for dinner. Last egg I cracked appeared normal, cracked like all the others but was completely rotten and pure runny liquid. I have no idea how this happened. I was told lash egg. Is this possible even though the shell was normal? We have...
