ok.... now i do remember not seeing one of my Dominiques..... AND when we went out there to put the chick in the MHP one of the Dominique hens puffed out her neck feathers huge..... but she hasn't come down at all for the baby.... I'll check on him before bed and again at 5 AM
if there is a mamma in the morning, then what? will i assume she'll keep him warm? do i just put food and water down where he is and he'll know how to feed himself?
yes, i set up a MHP and have layer crumble, water, and I'm scrambling an egg for him... till i can get to the feed store tomorrow.... I'll check around for a nest....
I left them all alone for about 15 minutes just now to see if the hens would come down and they didn't.....
one of the hens was getting mad when i took eggs the other day but I've been taking eggs every few days..... I didn't possibly think they'd be fertile since my rooster has been gone for a while....
My rooster left about 2 weeks ago..... today i came home to a baby chick ,,,,,,,, I cannot tell which one is the mother hen.... no one is acting motherly or claiming the chick..... What do i do? All the hens are on their roost and the baby is running around chirping... it's starting to get...
Our baby chick is 5 days old. The kids picked it out at the feedstore to try to save it. It came from the hatchery like this. It can only stand on one leg. The hock is definitely infected/ inflamed/ swollen as you can see. What should we do? Any help is most appreciated.
