Duck with eye infection - has anyone had a good outcome?

The eye cream is called 'neomycin and polymyxin B sulfates and bacitracin zinc ophthalmic ointment'. I don't have a picture but she looks normal except for her closed eye and sleepiness. I suspect she got pecked by another bird, the infection started off pretty mild but progressed quickly. The...

Duck with eye infection - has anyone had a good outcome?

My duck has an eye infection and it's pretty bad, we took her to the vet and have had her on oral antibiotics and a painkiller 2x/day, and eye cream 4x/day, for a few days now, but it hasn't gotten better. The last few days she's been very sleepy, like she'll just doze off while standing in her...

Is this bumblefoot on my pekin duck?

Was yours as big as this one? And did you wrap the foot with the ointment on it? I went to the vet today and she gave me an antibiotic cream, and oral antibiotics and said it could take months to heal. She didn't say anything about soaking in epsom salt but if it worked for you maybe I should?

    Bumblefoot or fungal infection?

I don't know if this is bumblefoot or fungal infection. It isn't really a scab that I can remove, which is why I don't think it's bumble foot. She is eating and drinking, and was limping a bit yesterday, but was walking fine this morning. I'm not sure what else I should do- I soaked her feet in...

Is this bumblefoot on my pekin duck?

I don't know if this is bumblefoot or a fungal infection. It isn't really a scab that I can remove, which is why I don't think it's bumble foot. I'm not sure what else I should do- I soaked her feet in an epsom salt bath this morning for 30 minutes, then sprayed the brown area with Microcyn...

Receiving a mallard duckling today- will it fly away?

Thank you! What is the difference between a domestic and wild mallard? We were going to call a wildlife rehabilitator to take the whole family of ducks, but once the family left and the one duckling remained we revised our plan.

Receiving a mallard duckling today- will it fly away?

My friend had a family of mallards move into their pool area. She plans to let them live there until the ducklings grow up and fly away. However, one of the ducklings was rejected by it’s mom, so I offered to raise it. I have chickens and geese already, but none of those can fly (the geese are...

    Goose sitting down all day?

My 1 year old female pilgrim goose was 'missing' for the whole afternoon, and when I found her she was just sitting inside the coop. Usually she is exploring the yard with our other goose. They both laid lots of eggs in April, and they were broody for most of May, so I don't think it's...

Can a goose hatch chicken eggs?

I have a 1-year old female pilgrim/emden goose mix (Lucy) who has been sitting on about 10 chicken eggs for 2 weeks now. It started when Lucy made a nest for her own eggs (unfertilized), and the hens started laying their (fertilized) eggs right next to her. Lucy took the hens eggs after they...

    Goose losing feathers on head

My female goose has the same thing- it is from breeding. When they have access to water (like a pond or pool), the gander mounts the goose and pulls her head feathers to hold on. It looks painful for the goose, so I was thinking of making her a little hat to protect her head, but now I'm just...

Black spots on my hen & rooster’s comb??

Even on the rooster? I wonder which of my hens are brave enough to peck at him

Black spots on my hen & rooster’s comb??

I first noticed tiny black spots on my exchequer leghorn’s comb about a month ago, but didn’t think much of it because they’re acting normal otherwise. When I looked closely today, I noticed the spots have spread a little and the rooster has them too (photos attached). I’m really hoping...

Cause of Death of my Amberlink Chicken?

I'm hoping to figure out why my 3 year old Amberlink hen died a few weeks ago, to prevent it from happening to my other chickens. Here is what happened: Weekend: Amberlink and my one other hen (Buff Orpington, 3 years old) both appeared healthy, except that the Amberlink hasn't laid an egg in...

Tips for helping chickens live a long, healthy life?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to see what your tips are for raising healthy chickens that live a long, happy life. I have a three year old hen, and 7 five week old chicks who I'm going to move into the outdoor coop soon. My other adult hen died a few weeks ago, from unknown causes. Her breed's...
