Thank you for responding!
Unfortunately, she passed away on Sunday night. I feel terrible that we didn't put her out of her misery earlier. I knew she wasn't going to get better, but just tried to make her as comfortable as I could.
I know it's just a part of owning chickens, but it doesn't...
We have a 3-4 year old ISA brown. She started acting sick a few days ago. Yesterday, it was very obvious that her abdomen is full of fluid. My first thought is water belly, so I took a syringe and drained a little bit. It was clear fluid.
Any ideas? I stopped draining and kept her inside...
Our 2 little bantams are always snuggled with the roosters! There's always one with her tail sticking out from under him.
I guess they figured out a way to stay warm!
We have a sapphire gem pullet. She's about 5 months old. On Thursday night, she wasn't walking very well. She would walk, and then collapse on her butt and stay sitting down. I checked for an egg internally, and didn't feel anything. I gave her a warm soak, dried her off, and let her stay in our...
We had to kill one of our roosters yesterday. He was our favorite and had such a personality! Unfortunately, he was too rough on the hens. Whipping them around, causing wounds. They would scream and hide from him when he came near. We just had 2 chicks hatch a week ago and he went in and...
I'm not sure if I posted in the right spot, sorry if it's not!
I had someone come and pick up several dozen eggs. She ended up tripping on something while walking out our door. She dropped 2 dozen eggs and most of them broke. I replaced the broken ones at no extra cost to her.
I had to pull a...
7 month old brahma started showing signs of illness on Saturday. Very lethargic, huddled in a corner with her tail hung low. She would still get up on the roost at night and her crop would have a little bit of food in it. She stayed the same for a couple days. I checked to see if she was egg...
She/he was hatched out by our broody hen and is 14 weeks old now. Up until recently, I was confident she was a pullet - the tail is throwing me off a little bit now.
Thought I'd turn to the experts!
Thoughts?
Why do people you know (friends/family) expect their eggs for FREE??
Maybe I'm the only one with the problem, but I've had several people (people who I do work business with, siblings) just want eggs for free. Don't even offer me any money. My fault for allowing it a couple times. I don't...
She was. We are pretty confident that she was the only one in that nesting box since last night, though.
We tried moving her last night to a separate space, where she was protected but could sill see everything and all the other chickens. She freaked out and rammed herself into the fence...
