Sounds like a lot of work. I think trying to raise only one chick by itself would not be good for it. It’s like “me against the world” scenario.

I usually spend 30 minutes a day with them on work days.They are just waking up when I leave for work at 7:30, and are already in the roost by the time I get home at 4:30. The sunsets around 415 now. On the weekends I spend at least one or two hours with them cleaning up and watching them.

My two livestock guardians and the mutt. Falcor, who is now 120# and 4 yo, and Sequoia at 90# is 3 yo. My LGDs are not guardian trained so the chickens are now confined to the garden. Our Mutt is 1 yo.

Yes. I put my new coop on blocks and it has a feature to close the roost door at night. Also, my livestock guardian dogs are in the yard most of the time.

I’m back with a new flock of 4 hens. My last flock was killed by raccoons and recently got new pullets. Wow. Been missing my peeps. We’re still working on names.

I got my chicks at about 1.5 to 2 weeks old, but I noticed it shortly after I got them home. Don't remember how long it was. I gave each affected bird one drop of vitamins twice a day.

The name of the vitamin I bought was Poly-vi-sol by Enfamil. I had to ask the pharmasist to order them because I couldn't find ones that were iron free. You don't have to mix anything. Just give them one drop each. The vitamins come with a dropper in the package.
