Got my first egg from my 2 baby chickens this week. So proud it was perfect. I have had 5 since Tuesday when I got the first and it was very yummy.... now I have learned on this wonderful site that crouching mean my second hen is ready to lay

Such good info I was so worried about my hen she is 6 months and my other hen has started laying but hasn’t done this crouching. the upside was I have picked her up a few times and she seemed very relaxed

yeah I ended up returning him where I got my hens ..... he was supposed to be a hen... they are going to rehire him as someone was looking for one like him... he was my fav chicken but can’t really have him where I live and was crowing a lot and chasing my cats so I sadly gave him back.

thanks that’s great info . I have a very large back yard and the run is large. I leave them to have the run of the whole yard, that way if it’s raining like today they can head under my back veranda. They do spend most of their time down the back in the fenced area
