Received my horizontal nipples in the mail yesterday. As I have seen on google, i attempted to install them in PVC pipe. No luck. everytime i tried they would just pop out. I was using 1" PVC. What is the trick? I'm thinking about putting t joints and fitting them with reducing bushings...

I got 3 barred rocks from TSC and judging by the distinct difference in barring it looks like the one in the back is a rooster. Agree?

Looks like one of my 3 Barred Rocks is a roo judging by the density of his stripes when compared to the other 2. Do you agree? Of the 9 chicks we picked up at TSC that day he is the smallest.

Well that brooder was short lived. I built them a new 4.5' x 5.5' x 2' brooder because they seem to have tripled in size in a week. hopefully this is big enough until the snow melts enough to let me finish the coop.

with very curious young kids, 1 and 4, do you think the chicks would do ok with a heating pad underneath instead of a lamp above? I'm worried the kids could touch the light and get hurt.
