First day laying acting strange limping Pekin

Ok, she just laid this egg in my lap - I don't know if I should be honored... But, should I be concerned? This is day two of laying and the last two eggs have looked exactly like this - same split on the top.

This is Preacher. I think that she looks like Donald Duck. She's so sweet, y'all.

First day laying acting strange limping Pekin

My Pekin duck, Preacher has definitely started laying. This morning, I found a beautiful hard shelled egg in their pen - I'm not sure which of my two girls laid it, but was thrilled with my first "present". I let them free range all day long in my backyard today, as I was working from home...

Sick duck need advice liver toxicity

Good to know! Thank you. He is doing remarkably well... He's back with his buddies today. There is a shift in the pecking order, as he was top duck before he fell ill. I cannot wait for them to work this out, because they are loud today!

Sick duck need advice liver toxicity

Thank you for asking. He is improving - I think that I may have stumbled upon a treatment for liver toxicity --- this bird was given up for dead. They told me that not putting him down would be cruel. He was listless, but his eyes were very awake. I saw some improvement with the milk...

Sick duck need advice liver toxicity

Hello! Thank you for responding. He is eating purina flock raiser. He's less interested in that than the treats right now - at this point, he needs calories, so what he will eat is what I'm giving him. It's trial and error, but he is eating.

Sick duck need advice liver toxicity

Hello! So, to make a long story short... I have a very sick 12 week old Rouen drake. It seems as though he got into something toxic. His liver enzymes were off the charts. He spent the better part at the vet last week - is know, it's just a duck... But I love this duck. He was improving...

    The Duck Thread

I am looking to re-home 4 of my 9 week old ducks/ducklings: 2 Pekin females. 1rouen male. 1cayuga male. My husband had "had it" and this makes me so sad - they are lovely ducks ~ so incredibly friendly. But, marriage wins over ducks. If you are in the minneapolis area, please contact me if...

    TruGreen and Ducklings

Again thank you! Do you know how long to wait before the coast is clear? They have been in my bathtub several times this week. I'd like to move them outdoors in a week or so - the weather is nice enough, and oh the mess these little angels create!

    TruGreen and Ducklings

Thank you for responding! I cannot believe that about your dog! I'm glad that she is ok. Trugreen said that it was their mistake. They told me that it was safe for the ducks - I just don't believe it with the little foraging and snacking. I will wait a bit. Poor things want to get out to play.

    TruGreen and Ducklings

Hi! I'm new here, and I'm also a new and nervous duck parent. We have trugreen spray our front lawn, but last week they also sprayed my back lawn... I am wondering if it is safe for my 2.5 week old ducklings to go outside for a bit. We have had a week of on again off again rain. I don't want...
