Chicken pecking her own wound on her vent

No I haven't heard of that! I will try to find some and try it. Thanks!

Chicken pecking her own wound on her vent

I posted a few days ago because I had a chicken at death's door. I think I've figured out what's going on but I can't figure out how to stop it. I had an issue with the person watching my chickens while I was out of town for a week leaving a white light on the entire time I was gone. We also...

Help! Chicken seems to be dying!

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm giving her except the recipe I had called for 1/4 tsp of Epsom salts as well. I think the minerals are useful and in case she has some kind of poisoning a laxative might not be a bad idea. I used a product that's supposed to keep hens from pecking each other...

Help! Chicken seems to be dying!

Oh if it helps any I'm dropper feeding her three mixtures. Greek probiotic yogurt mixed with honey; then concentrated chamomile tea with echinacea and goldenseal also with honey and coconut oil melted in; then an electrolyte drink made with small amounts of Epsom salt, salt, baking soda, honey...

Help! Chicken seems to be dying!

It's Sunday so I can't take my chicken to a vet. I had an issue with them pecking each other due to the person watching my ranch while I was on vacation leaving the overhead instead of the red heat lamp light on for a week straight (grrrrrrrr!) about a month ago, had just about fixed everyone...

What is the leftover dust in layer feed?

Oh the last one came in while I was writing - thanks for the photos, that's definitely not what I'm seeing. Yours is clearly grains especially once water is mixed in. Mine looks like silt dust, light gray brown and extremely fine. When water is added, it makes a sludgy paste, not crumbles...

What is the leftover dust in layer feed?

Thanks those are all helpful suggestions. I think I will look for new feed, the dust portion makes up a good quarter of the feed, so it isn't practical to constantly mix it with something else to get them to eat it. Even if it is good stuff, it seems like their must be better feed out there...

What is the leftover dust in layer feed?

I use organic layer feed crumbles, and my chickens appear to pick through it for the big chunks (like sunflower seeds), and leave behind this dust that builds up. I'd guess almost a quarter of the feed is this dust, and it is annoying because it builds up so fast that it blocks their feeder. I...

Chicken with vent prolapse, possibly vent gleet, appears recovered, wondering how long until she lay

Thanks, that's nice of you! She seems to be doing well still, though I'm pretty sure she hasn't laid yet.

Buff and white chicken with "willow" (green) legs and cushion comb (maybe pea comb)

Thank you all! Conveniently the one chick I have that turned out to be a rooster is also an Easter Egger - maybe I will try to breed them at some point and see if I can get more like her (though I'm slightly disappointed to hear she is an Easter Egger since they don't breed true). I agree, I...

Buff and white chicken with "willow" (green) legs and cushion comb (maybe pea comb)

I put photos on my post, can you not see them? There are a few photos. This is my first post adding photos so maybe I did it wrong. She could lay blue or green eggs, it's hard to tell. I have 24 chickens laying and they lay in nests with other eggs from other chickens. I do have quite a...
