Informed that I was in violation of our covenants???

The written word can be interpreted so many different ways. I didn't think he was making fun of you, I thought he was trying to better understand your situation. To be honest, I don't really understand your situation. What's an "informal HOA"? Does that mean that they don't have the power to...

Give me your best advice on discouraging broodiness!

I had a couple of broody hens that I moved to a tractor thinking they could set some eggs and not be bothered by other hens laying on top of them. They were so upset to be in a new place they stopped being broody.

    New? Los Angeles rules

I don't have an official source for you so I guess this will just be hearsay, but my understanding is that the only limit on hens is the distance to dwellings. They have to be 20' from your house and 35' from your neighbors' houses. There is no limit on the number of hens. You can keep one...

Neighbor Chickens roosting in my coop at night?

I'm a little unclear on the story. Have you talked to him and explained what happened? It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Calling the sheriff was a bit of an overreaction but if I found my chickens in my neighbor's coop I would be a bit disgruntled, until I found out it was my fault.

Will a New Broody Accept Chicks?

I have a hen that just went broody and I have eggs in the incubator that are set to hatch in a week. Will the broody feel like she has set long enough if I put new chicks under her after only a week of setting? I'm concerned that she might reject the chicks. She is about 14 months old and this...

Help! First time setting eggs and so confused!

I got a fan on ebay that was a kit meant to attach to the Hovabator 1602. It attaches to the 4 holes in the top of the incubator between the windows. I haven't used the fan yet though and have had success hatching with temps around 101

Free BBR Old English Game Bantam Rooster, Los Angeles, CA

He's a little guy. Here's a picture with a black australorp hen behind him. He's about a third of the size that she is. I know right where Long Beach is.

Free BBR Old English Game Bantam Rooster, Los Angeles, CA

I ordered some OEGBs from McMurry hoping for broody hens but they all ended up being males. This guy is ten months old and pretty feisty. Available for pick up or I'd be happy to deliver in the greater Los Angeles area.

Is this seriously not enough space??????

Maybe the people who were criticizing your coop and run were really just annoyed by your political avatar. If your birds are getting along and seem happy then I think they have plenty of space.

Explain genetics of "dark, partridge, black copper", and more..

I have silver penciled rocks that I thought had the same patterning as dark Brahmas. It also looks the same as partridge but a different color.

Don't know what to do! Need advice!

I'm not sure what you mean by "large coral" but if it's not keeping the chickens in, it's not working. They don't need to be kept in a cage, they just need to be in an enclosed run that they can't escape from. Try clipping their wings or putting bird netting over their run.
