My final numbers are : 42 eggs orginally 10 not fertile 2 early stopped developing 2 late stopped developing 28 to lockdown Hatched 22 Olive egger drowned at pip :( amerucauna that was stuck in shell after zip for 18 hours almost passed on day 3 We have : red barred silkie partridge...

My very first hatch... I cut the bator off today ( day 23 ) 5 eggs left , no pips.... I hatched 22 out of 28 and my one lone olive egger drowned in the egg after pipping. The remaining eggs I candled.. nothing. But that happens and I'm pleased with my first hatch... since I only "needed" 5 more lol

So... am I crazy. I was reading on the early crowing silkies.... has anyone ever noticed a 3 day old going through the physical motions of crowing ( looks like it should be crowing but no sound ) and if so...did that chick grow to be a roo ? Just curious

Update to say the maran is doing awesome... the night in the brooder ( I didn't want to leave him in sling all day incase others kept picking in him. But he spent today in it and I'm happy to say it is cruising around and I can't even tell him apart from the others except he has a gimpy wing...

Jumping in, just did my first hatch.... I bought from a friend white silkie and black silkie eggs, her breeders are seperate... I hatched : 2 blue 1 partridge 1 black 1 white 1 splash 1 red barred J im IN LOVE With them. [/IMG][/IMG] I'm mobile but was excited to share :)

So we made a chickie jumper for him/her. He's alert , drank, just... falls over gonna give it a few days and see how he does.

Okay sticky egg cleaned :) BUT another Maran.. has an issue.. he won't stand up, just kicks himself wildly around and always tips to one side.. I read a post about making a Johnny jumper type sling for him to get used to putting weight in it... any info. It will sip water... but that's...

Hatch day is today, some started yesterday 16 of the 28 so far , I've got a blue crested polish blue silkie red barred silkie splash bantam cochin ( possibly frizzle ) 2 creole polish 2 marans white silkie and some amerucaunas and other polish

I've got 2 pips now.... the polish and a black silkie.. those are 2 i can see.. so hoping maybe more could be back in the back and I just can't see them.. I looked it up and found no concrete information, but how long is " okay" after pip to not see any progress? My fist pip was about...
