Yes, I'm sure it is, at least to start. She got the worst of it for sure. She also never really moulted last winter.
Randy the Roo has been rehomed. I only have 4 hens and he was very...amorous. He now has a harem of 18 ladies.
Thank you!
Did I just make a horrible mistake? I have a hen who the Roo made pretty naked in spots. I thought the other hens had been picking so I separated her for a bit. I thought I'd put Blue Kote on the red areas, but none of our local stores had it, so I went to MFA and was sold this.
I didn't read...
I was reading to catch up and saw your awful news. I'm so sorry. :hugs
She's moved. The coops are side by side, so when everyone is out they can all see each other. It's the best I can do.
Gosh we got rid of both roos a while back! At least two months ago. She wasn't nearly that bare even a few days ago. I thought she was looking better. I separated her from the others for now. I don't have any blue spray or saddles. The spray I have is clear and I didn't figure I'd need saddles...
Hey all! Life just isn't allowing me to do much more than lurk these days. I keep popping on and trying to read a bit...but you folks all know hour fast this thread moves. Hope all is well.
We're pretty good here...except poor Sheba. She just can't catch a break. I've decided that I badly...
Hey folks! Doing a fly-by. I've just had so much going on and really, nothing much going on with the chooks...comes from only having 4 I suppose. But all the ladies seem happy and healthy. We have a little power struggle going on. Goldie seems to think she can work her way up onto the top...
It's really hard to say. She looks pretty bedraggled all over, much like the other girls did when moulting, and she's stopped laying. She hasn't had a moult yet either. She's not one to let me catch her. I'm just glad she seems okay.
Stupid question, but not real chickens...right? That red can't be natural.
Took the chooks some yum...baked chicken last night and all the yummy grease soaked up into bits protein wrap (which I bought to be healthy, but were gross) with potatoes and the uneaten chicken ... a cannibal treat...
Greetings chicken tenders! Hope all are well. Love seeing everyone's lovely flocks. Sheba seems fine, bedraggled as she is. Tomorrow I'll give them another delicious high-protein (cannibalistic) treat. We're still getting an egg almost daily, just none from Sheba. It's good she's taking a break.
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. That poor hen. First she was apparently sore from Manny's attentions and no sooner was she starting to grow feathers back when Randy got...well, randy. It was super cold last week; below zero. I'll keep a close eye on her. Hopefully no one will pick on...
