I have 5 girls that live in this great coop but I'm starting to wonder if I'm a terrible mom. They stay in here from when I let them out in the morning until about 4 when I get home from work and then they free range the whole (demolished) garden. Thoughts?
Is anyone in the tri-cities area looking for a Barred Rock rooster for breeding, show or pet? Just found out one of my "hens" from TSC is a rooster and need to find him a new home.
know I should apply a treatment for mites, but what should I do about ticks?! My husband normally fogs for mosquitoes and ticks with a formula that says is safe to use in pultry houses. I have 6 week Khakis I just put out 3 days ago and chicks to be let out later in the weekend. The treatment...

Has anyone's KC's panted when put outside?! Mine are out for their first time today and will not move to the shade but are panting like crazy. Will they overheat? They have their food and plenty of water plus a kiddie pool. Since its their first day out I'm hoping they'll figure out how to get in.
I am completely JEALOUS as my Kahki's want nothing to do with me! However, today is their first day in their new paradise! It looks like we robbed a playground! Any advice to a first time duck owner?! If you can't tell, everything is covered in chicken wire.
Here's my reclaimed/recycled duck house! Still need to take the table out, add the rest of a front door and waterproof the roof, but it's coming along! Hoping to put my little poppers out this weekend. [/IMG]
So, I've been reading along, and this may sound like a dumb question, but the deep litter method is for the coop itself, not the run. Right? I am new to chickens and my girls aren't even out yet so I thought I'd better figure out before then! I have a coop that has a run area attached...
I have been loving this tread! Relatively new to ducks and chicks but did way more research beforehand with the chicks. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to ducks. What is the best flooring in their houses if you don't have them on the ground? I saw somewhere where they used hardware cloth but...
I've also see where a lot of people get scrap linoleum flooring and put it on the plywood floors to keep it from rotting. I'm going to use a slide out box and probably line with something similar. My duck house isn't up yet so do not know from personal experience.
