Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

I bought some Tums today -- regular strength. I needed, would it just be one Tums crushed up?

Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

UPDATE! SHE JUST LAYED AN EGG! Not sure if it was the warm water soak, the electrolytes, extra oyster shells or pure good fortune. Thank you to all who offered help!

Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

None other than Oyster shells. Do you have a recommendation for what I should buy? I did see that you mentioned tums. I can buy those today. Anything else I could/should try in terms of calcium? Thank you!

Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

I'm not sure what standing like a penguin exactly means, but she seemed to be pushing while standing -- we could see her vent sort of opening and closing. We can't see or feel an egg, though. We had some electrolyte solution, which we mixed up for her and used a dropper to try and force some of...

Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

We soaked her in warm water for about 15 minutes and gently massaged her. We then dried her off (as best we could) and put her in the coop by herself. She didn't lay an egg, but she did poop. She is eating today and walking fine -- but still no egg. We are watching her closely.

Chicken suddenly ill -- possible emergency?

Suddenly (literally in just the past couple of hours) our red sex link chicken has begun standing in one place, won't move at all, and seems to be holding herself in an odd fashion. Possibly straining to lay an egg? I read that having an egg bound chicken is quite rare but also an emergency when...

    Starter or Grower?

Can you share what brand you purchase that has 20% protein? Thank you!

Is there a need for 'poultry grower finisher crumblet'?

If I keep my chicks on their starter food rather than switch to grower, would I need to change to a non-medicated chick starter food? And, if so, do I make that switch at the 8 week mark? Thanks!

    Poop attack

@Pipica I just transitioned our three baby chicks from puppy pads and paper towels to pine shavings. They are in a medium-size puppy pen (45" in diameter) with puppy pads covered by about 2"-3" of the pine shavings. How often do you suggest I clean? I'm still constantly wiping of surfaces they...

    Baby Chick Eye Problem

I moved her to a warm box next to the brooder, and wrapped her in a warm cloth. I knew it was likely too late, but I wanted to at least try. I used a dropper to attempt to get some fluid in her, but she wasn't even able to hold her head up. So I laid her in her soft cloth and let her go in...

    Baby Chick Eye Problem

Hi, all. I fed egg yolk by hand at 6 p.m. at 8 p.m. yesterday and gave her droplets of electrolyte solution every hour up until 10:30 p.m. But she's dying. This morning, she can't stand and really can't sit. She just rolls onto her side and back. What should I do? Remove her from the brooder? I...

    Baby Chick Eye Problem

Thank you! As an update: I'm wondering now if there's actually a problem with her eye or if she just doesn't tend to open it. I just went to give her some electrolytes with a dropper, and she had it open and it looked normal. The Hatchery thinks it could be Coccidiosis, I guess because they...

    Baby Chick Eye Problem

We have four baby chicks that a hatchery yesterday morning. All four arrived in seemingly good health and all ate and drank right away. They spent most of their day and pretty much all night under their radiant heater. This morning, we noticed that one baby didn't seem to want to come out from...
