    Adjusting ventilation

Hi everyone! I'm in need of some advice, my flock is struggling with frostbite and we aren't even into our super cold season. The coop is 5x4 ft. and about 3ft. high inside. We have two 5ft. roosts, and four vents, one on each side of each roost. Two vents are about 3x5 in and the other two are...

    Bad rooster?

Thank you everyone for your help! I think I'll definitely keep him for a while, I really love him, he's super sweet. I think I just needed a little reassuring that he'll mature.I just got a little discouraged the other day about him getting frostbite for the third time and as he's my first...

    Bad rooster?

Ok! Thanks! I'll try to keep working with him! I've resecured the entire co-op and spread predator wolf pee around regularly. So it's secure without him. I just need an alarm system as the last flock was killed quietly.

    Bad rooster?

Yes, it is the double digits negative a good bit here. And I know they don't have too much control over getting frostbite, but, I meant in the context that the hens will tuck their heads under their wings and the rooster refuses to do so. I have to have a rooster as we have several foxes and...

    Bad rooster?

I'm about to get some chicks to add to my flock and I was wondering about replacing my rooster. My rooster is a complete coward. What makes a coop "Fort Knox" predator proof?

I think you're doing great! The only thing I'll warn you is this is a picture of where a fox drug out our chickens through a small gap. He also dug about 10" down in three places, but we had wire all around so he wasn't able to get in that way.

Topic of the Week - Aggressive Roosters: What is the best way to handle them?

I have a 4week old RIR roo and I keep seeing that I shouldn't make a pet out of him, I just want him to protect my 8 pullets and to be nice to people, I thought holding him more at young age would get him friendly? Please help! P.S. right now he runs and chirps like a coward every time I try to...
