What Color are Pekin duck eggs?

I have a question related to your question. I think my Pekins have just started laying but not sure. Are their eggs just a little larger than extra large when they first start laying? Right now I am getting eggs about the same size as what my Buffs lay but more round and lighter in color, almost...

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well I have some interesting news. I kept telling my husband that I thought that one of our hens was actually a rooster. He was like no no no they said at tractor supply they were all females. Well our hen crowed this week...hmmmm. I have never seen a hen crow.

    LOTS of feed being wasted

I bought a round type feeder I could raise off the ground. I raised it just enough so they could still feed without jumping on it. It saved me a ton of money on food.

Thanks everyone. So far, so good. They are about 9 weeks old and have started to forage. They have discovered bugs and dandelions. They were so funny chasing the little flies that come out at dusk, just before I put them up for the night.

They are not completely feathered yet. They are very close but not completely. Thanks for the warning. I will make sure to double check my lamps.

1 chick hatched out of 52 eggs

I don't know if there is a Tractor Supply near you but they have chicks for sale right now. Also a lot of your local feed and seed stores will be getting them or have them. It might be a good idea to buy her or him a few friends. Just a thought. We bought 15 BO's from them and they are doing great.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I am in Central Georgia. My husband and I and daughter are raising 15 BO's and 5 Bantams assorted. This is my first time raising chickens. However, my husband raised chickens many many years ago before we met.

We own a small 5 acre farm. We recently just received our first chicks. We have 15 Buff Orpingtons and 5 Bantams. I am looking forward to learning a lot from my fellow farmers as I am new to farming. We just bought our farm last fall.

    When to move the babies

I have just moved my Buff's (15 of them) to the chicken coupe 2 weeks ago. They were 5 weeks old so we provided brooding lamps to keep the coupe warm on one side but left the other side without a lamp so if they got too hot they could cool down. My question is: I still have 5 bantam chicks...
