    Thank you for your response. I have read on another thread here that the UNM study showed they will not shed enough if the virus to infect other chickens. Am looking more now.

    Will a chick that is vaccinated for Marek's from the hatchery be a carrier and infect other birds with Marek's.? I am getting a lot of different answers. Some qualified. Some think they know. Any input or leads to info would help. Thanks!

    Six chick minimum in Maine

    So our chicken swap had an upset man trying to sell chicks in small numbers. He was told the law was at least 6. Then one member ask why six was the magic number. Anyone know why?

    I understand the dogs are predators and chickens are prey thing. I personally leave my dog outside only if my chickens are free ranging. She protects them and will herd them into the coop. She sounds the alarm if a predator comes near her chickens. We taught her that they were her chickens...

    My first Fox attack that ended in a kill

    Fox grabbed my chicken last year. My golden retriever will attack on command, but the younger foxes will circle back. Our local "animal lover" said Wolf Urine. You can buy it online. Good luck! My problem foxes get a little more than a BB gun if they hang out too long.

    The white one looks like a blue andalusian I had last year. Does it have blue legs? Can't really tell in the pic.

    Thanks....was not sure if there were breeds that don't "mix" well. And the overly Dominant Roo is a good protector of the flock and keeps the ladies in line. Lots of foxes and other assorted chicken biters...he's the only one who seems to watch for them.

    We only had one breed of chickens growing up so I don't know.....Do different breeds get along or do I need to seperate them? They are Year old RIR with a DOMINANT Roo and the "other" Roo with 10 ladies. I am getting some white egg layers to add some color to the flock and different eggs...
