Typically I do have nesting material in the nest boxes but my hens pull it out and onto the floor of the coop... I wonder if the nest boxes are too small and or short for them....

hey guys, just looking for some advice on wintering my girls. I live in Western NY. Do I need to insulate my coop? I have 5 leg horns and used the Purina Coop design. Any advice and tips would be amazingly helpful. ~manbear

Got a great present from one of my coworkers today of enough chicken wire for the run for my girls! Now just to get the wood for the coop portion and I am all set!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone...so far the girls are doing great....man do they have an appetite! The only part I am frustrated about is I'm not too sure what type they are....I'm going to head back to the place of purchase tomorrow and see what info they can give me...the girl that boxed...
