    Can anyone help?

I think they would be crowing already if they are 10 weeks old. My easter egger looked a lot like the ones in your photos at 10 weeks. In a week or two their muff feathers will start fluffing out. I know this probably doesn't help much. Good luck.

    Coop training new chicks?

Hi. I just integrated 2 new pullets I raised from day old chicks into my flock of 3 full grown birds. I was really nervous about coop training too. So my babies were coop trained separate from the main flock. I set up a separate (mini) coop for the babies that was right next to the main...

Integrated new chickens... one potential problem?

Hello. So about 3 weeks ago I integrated two 10 week old pullets into my existing flock of 3 chickens. I did it right. I had the babies in a separate coop/run right next to the main run for 3 weeks before I let the babies into the main enclosure. I also spent a week letting the chickens meet...

Chickens quit sleeping in the coop at night.

Thank you Lazy Gardener and Aart. I'm going to try and take a look in the next couple of nights. You both gave some great tips. I'm crossing my fingers I don't have a mite problem. It sounds awful. Thanks again.

Chickens quit sleeping in the coop at night.

Thanks Lazy Gardener. I do know my coop doesn't have the best ventilation so it could be that. Since the run is completely predator proof, I was keeping one of the doors open in addition to the sliding windows to hopefully help with the ventilation issue, but maybe it wasn't enough. And I didn't...

Chickens quit sleeping in the coop at night.

Hello. I have three 23 week old chickens (an easter egger, buckeye and a blue andalusian) and they have been coop trained since we moved them from the brooder. I never had any problems, I confined them to the coop for 3 days and voila, they went back to the coop every night to sleep without ever...

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

Hi Elizabeth. We like the coop as a first go. My husband and I picked it for price as well. We enclosed the bungalow in a 10ft by 12ft run. Our chickens love it and we will be integrating a couple more chickens in a few weeks. We are already planning our new coop. I learned a lot from the...

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

Thanks Mclanea. I think we'll bury the hardware cloth. Your encouragement is great, I was starting to get nervous about my coop. If it's really not working we'll build our own this summer.

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

I'm stressed about the predators! I didn't realize how many hawks we have on our property until I ordered the chicks. I was shocked! We're being very thorough with our run enclosure, which is why it's taking so long to get it up, combined with all the rain. I'm expecting a few sleepless...

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

Thanks everyone! I've already got my husband on the job of building a higher roost for when the chicks are bigger. My husband and I have planned to build our own coop in about a year all along. We're both new to chickens and didn't quite understand what coops looked like so we went with a...

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

Thanks Mary! Our coop is called the Bungalow... here's a link: http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Chicken-Coops/The-Bungalow-Chicken-Coop-up-to-6-chickens-p1185.aspx I'll keep the windows open for ventilation during the day. It's in the garage because we've had an extremely wet fall and...

Moving chicks from brooder to coop! A quick question.

Hello. I'm raising my first chickens and so far it's been great! I have a Blue Andalusian, a Buckeye and an Easter Egger. They are 5 weeks old and are feathered. I'm moving them from my indoor brooder to their coop, which is currently in our garage. I've been using a Brinsea electric hen...
