    Mycoplasma, or unconnected issues?

I wrote to the person who did our NPIP testing to ask if it was offered by state. I’m waiting to hear back on that. I just looked up Zoologix and if I’m unable to do it through the state then I may do it that way. Thank you for mentioning them, it looks like a good site. When your birds were...

    Mycoplasma, or unconnected issues?

Several months ago, some of my birds had what seemed to be colds (some coughing/sneezing, runny noses, etc.) so the whole flock was treated with a antibiotics and were all fine in about a week, except for two hens who had persistent sneezing and coughing. I figured the antibiotics just took a...

Young Birds Suddenly Seizing and Dying

Sorry for the late reply- I’ve been treating the whole flock with Corid and I haven’t had any more birds get sick. I will probably give them something to build resistance after Corid treatment is over. Thank you for the help!

Young Birds Suddenly Seizing and Dying

Thank you. I would like to send one in for a necropsy. Assuming it is Coccidiosis, what would be the best way to treat the flock?

Young Birds Suddenly Seizing and Dying

I agree— the layer was only supposed to be until I got more chick starter, I had assumed it would be okay for them but after reading about it I won’t be giving it to them anymore. I also thought it was something toxic/moldy that they ate at first but there’s no new plants in their run, no mold...

Young Birds Suddenly Seizing and Dying

They’ve all gotten layer pellets for the past month or so. No bloody poops that I’ve seen, I’ve noticed them to be a bit greenish every once in a while but nothing super obvious. Thank you.

Young Birds Suddenly Seizing and Dying

I’ve had 3 young (3-5 month old) chickens die suddenly in the past week. The first was on Sunday, the bird was puffed up and and seemed disinterested in eating, I assumed it was due to the cold. That night when I went to lock up he was dead under the coop, and his legs were stuck straight out...

    Breed and Colors?

Thank you! I was told they’re all purebreds but I agree that the gray looks more like a cross than anything.

    Breed and Colors?

Back in August, I received 5 chicks from a 4-H program. Apparently they came from a local breeder who donated eggs, so no mixed breeds. I know there’s 3 Cochins and 1 Andalusian, but I can’t figure out what the crested gray guy is. Also, any ideas on what colors will the Cochins end up being...

    Hello!

Yup, Australorps are cute but they do look very similar to one another. I have 2, Clarice and Juno, who I can only tell apart from their combs.

    Hello!

Yup! Currently trying to name 12 babies that my hen snuck off and hatched in the barn.

    Hello!

For the most part yes, though it gets tricky with the ones that look very similar :)

    Hello!

Thank you! This is Pamplemousse, born a few months ago. She was weak after being born and had to get a blood transfusion hence the bandage around her neck. She’s doing much better now.

    Hello!

Honestly, I’m not sure. I do keep a list of each of their names, breeds, etc. which makes it a little easier.
