Anyone have an educated guess? I got this egg I hatched from a girl who said it would either be an olive Egger or an Easter Egger. I thought she was a girl by her temperament and look. This chick is about 14 weeks old but now & her black feathers are shiny and oily showing green and blue, I read...
They arrived within 2 days of hatch, the day olds that came in the mail were here first then her eggs hatched a day or 2 later, I felt like it was too many as well but just didn’t know since she’s technically not feeding them milk I didn’t think it was draining on her, she just needs to keep...
My broody hen graciously accepted 13 chicks I introduced to her as day old chicks, she had just hatched 4 of her own making it a total of 17! They are all doing great but I did have to remove 4 eggs in order to do the large adoption of the day old chicks that were mailed to me. I hatched the 4...
This is so hard! No red comb to work with. Just black skin & black feet! Anyone know silkies well enough to take a guess at 11 week old chicks?
I got all vanilla, blackie, and Oreo ;)
Thanks for your time!
I have a couple Easter eggers and 1 all black Olive Egger that I thought were girls but I’m second guessing myself at 3 months old.
If you can tell by the look of it I’d greatly appreciate it.
#1 is Tiger looking straight at camera
#2 all black is Olive
#3 is Storm perched on branch
Thanks!
It’s on the feathers below the vent and he’s on the same diet as everyone else from the start and had this issue from the get go. I’ll try clipping those feathers to clean things up.
If anyone has time for a second question :) another bird got injured by what I think was either a pecking war or...
I agree with the olive egger. I got a chick out of a clutch I just hatched that looked just like these chicks that came from a flock with a golden comet hen and olive egger or Araucana roo came out looking like these. I was told they’d be considered F1 Olive Eggers.
He has no tail nub like this pic and his father was an araucana or olive egger so he probably is rumpless variety. I’ll have to look into if pasty butt is common issue with these kind if there is no visual vent deformation.
I’ve checked the general area of the vent, if it is deformed I don’t know what I’d do. Do you cull a chicken like that? I’m not sure if he has no tail because of this poopy butt problem or he just doesn’t have one. I purchased hatching eggs off Etsy to hatch out a clutch of EE and OE.
I have this Easter egger that looks like what I’ve read as “rump-less” he is the only one that I hatched out who had poopy butt as a chick and it came back and seems to be a problem with just him. Is poopy butt a common thing in older chicks or chickens? And do you think he is missing a tail? I...
