I think I found a miracle cure for feather picking

I really like these HenSavr aprons. Does a great job of protecting my girls backs. However, my picker has moved on to butt feathers. I guess I should've guessed that would happen. I have never seen who is doing the picking- but it has to be Betty White- my white leghorn. She is the only one NOT...

    Need advice! Hen loosing feathers!

What does it mean if they have bald spots? I have two chickens with bald spots on their lower backs. The rest of them have what looks like loose feathers in the same area. What's going on?

How Long Before Chicks Can Go Outside

I'm thinking it may be time for my 8 week and 6 week old chicks to go live in the coop. The brooder is getting very small for them. THey are well feathered and have been outside in the grass a few times now. They love it. I am afraid of putting them out there for fear of something getting them...

Who else got some 2013 chicks?!

Who else got some 2013 chicks?!

I got six chicks at Tractor Supply yesterday. They're about 2 weeks old, per the folks at TS. I have three different breeds- 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Rock Cornish, and 2 of another red breed but not sure which. I have a large aquarium as a brooder in my home office. I've named 3 of them so far the...

Finally, the chicks are arriving this week!

Just got my first baby chicks! So excited. We got 6 from Tractor Supply, they said they're about 1 1/2 weeks old. I have been researching raising chickens for a year and have learned the basics from BYC. Hope to learn more as I go along. Here is one of them. They all seem to enjoy being handled...
