I moved to the Country ( 10 mins from town) about 6 months ago and have fallen in love with Chickens, especially incubating and hatching my own.
My success rate isn't fantastic but I am learning and I currently have one Silver Laced Wyandotte that I have named Winnie. She is about 5 months old and she is beautiful. 2 others hatched but died shortly after hatch (unsure why??) and one from my very first hatch (same hatch as Winnie) drowned in the water I had for humidity.. Silly me left it uncoverd, I felt/feel terrible. (remember to always cover water if its at a level that is accessible by the chicks).
I have a 3 year old son and he loves the chickens, especially the little chicks.
Oh and by the way, I made my incubator from a styrafoam ?? (excuse my spelling if incorrect ?? ) box..
I work as a Bar Attendant and I am also studying a Diploma of Youth work.
I love the outdoors, finding enjoyment wandering the beaches gathering various shells and interesting looking rocks.
Its relaxing and a great way to spend fun time with my son.
