6 day old baby chicks. If I give them dirt to bathe in, do I mix in some grit??

They only need grit if you are feeding them anything else besides chick starter crumbles, which at this age, they should only be eating chick starter. They eat grit(tiny rocks) to help break down foods in their crop

6 day old chick, worm or intestinal shedding?

I watched this thing come out of the vent of my 6 day old chick. It has not been around any other chickens besides the chicks(of the same age) that is was shipped with and has not been outside. It's not a poop, and is stringy/gelatinous in feel. The whitish thing on it is a piece of shavings...

Crackling sound from the rump/vent area

Did you ever figure this out? We have this happening with one of out hens at the moment. It sounds like pop rocks crackling, or a plastic wal mart bag crinkling, coming from her back end. It happens about twice every minute in our hen, doesn't seem to be when she breathes.

    URGENT: Wry neck chicken seizures/spazzing?

We are experience this exact thing with our 7 month old silkie hen named Snowball. I found her yesterday morning with a twisted neck. I tried to put her out in the run but she was stumbling around in circles, not being able to stand much. I figure it's because she can't figure out which way is...

Young Silkie hen vent tissue issue/death with loose stool and parasites on body

One of my newer young silkies (less than 5 months old) has been having loose stools. On October 29th we realized that something was wrong with her vent. It looked like it had built up, dried Stool on the inside of it and was swollen and red. After talking to a local chicken nurse and treating...
