Help! Heat stroke- 4 wks old

Hi Everyone, I lost my 4 wk old Lavender Orpington due to heat stroke yesterday. I was checking on them regularly, but I didn't catch it in time. When I found her she was panting, breathing heavily and limp. I immediately got her to drink some water and was about to dunk her, but it was too...

None of my chickens are laying eggs- 7 months old

I"m in northern California and we are getting 10 hrs of sunlight (7am-5pm). I will try putting a light in the coop to add a few extra hours of light. Thanks for the suggestion!

None of my chickens are laying eggs- 7 months old

They have been on layer feed since they were about 22/23 weeks old. They are out of food, so I will go back to the grower food. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it!

Organic layer feed, organic scratch, healthy table scraps and weeds. I also offer crushed egg shells.

Most of the time I don't let them out of their coop/run until after 11 or so. Some days I don't let them out at all. Tried that for 3 days in a row last week and still no eggs.

Vacation- Chicks will be 5 weeks old

Hi, We are going camping during Memorial Day weekend (3 days). My chicks will be 5 weeks old. How can I leave them? Have a neighbor come by a few times a day? Hire a pet sitter? Will they be in the coop by then without a heat source? I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a heat lamp on while...
