Oh dear god! I've had a hen like this for four days!!! Every day I think she's going to die! Now I see this! We'll thank goodness someone is helping with information.
I'm trying intro 3 17 week old hens to my flock which are 3 one and half year old hens. The "big girls" are not nice to the "little girls". I have them in the sam yard with chicken wire separating them. I merge them at least once a day and they free range together sort of. Just don't want...
Thank you. I don't think I have that but I guess I'll make trip in town. She seems better this afternoon. But just in case I'll try. Would the diarrhea be related?
My year plus old hen is normally fine but yesterday began showing signs of being egg bound. I cleared her vent, gave her a 5 minute warm soak. The held her on my lap wrapped in a towel for another 30'minutes. I put her in her nesting box & she this morning there was a soft shelled egg in the...
I let the girl free range in the evening, but I stay with them... but Lo would get out on her own. It's my fault... I should have clipped her wing. Yes, would baby that little bantam too:) The bigger girls would bully her a little & I'd distract them to make sure she got treats;) Such cute...
I had an Old English bantam hen. She was so sweet and only 6 months old or so. She kept flying out of the yard area... She was laying her eggs up by our house instead of the coop. It took me a while to figure out what she was doing. She'd wander around the property and head back to the coop...
If anyone knows of anyone in the central Ohio area that would like 2 free Pekin Drakes to a good home. Please contact me. The are beautiful boys, but are trying to kill my chickens. They're about 5 months old and we thought we were getting one of each sex. Now the poor boys are miserable...
Awww so cute, my girls did the same thing - they'd curl up all together in one nesting box & cuddle. They've learned to roost after a few modifications inside, but the will only favor one nesting box to lay in. The other is wide open & no one visits it;)
we have an old english game & she's only given us 2 eggs in 2 or 3 weeks. We have 3 other red pullets & normally get 2 to 3 a day now. But sometimes, just one. They're little they'll figure it out. Be prepared for a few more soft ones too.
The coop sits on the ground now... I'm thinking I need to raise it in keeping with the highest roost possible theory. I wondered it that's what they were doing... in the background of this picture is the coop. And that's Lela checking out the camera;) hehe If I raise the coop I wonder if that...
I hear all these great stories about Chicken's putting themselves to bed... My chickens? No. They fly on top of the coop (probably 3 1/2 feet off the ground) and roost up on the roof. I have to pick them up and put them inside. I know when the hop up there they are ready to go to bed. But...
I'm reading all these posts and I feel horrible for my Pekin Drakes (two of them). Poor lonely guys:( I'm trying to re-home them so they will have some girls to be with:) Love all the stories here!
We're in the central Ohio area. Will bring them to you or whichever is convenient. Beautiful Drakes that need to be re-homed. Preferably to a home that has other ducks, but not necessary. Please contact me for any more information. I will update as well.
